Who Will be the Next Top 50 on the Web?
May 22, 2008
Biz Watch came across “The 50 Most Important People on the Web”, an article about those making the biggest impact on the internet. This study was made by PC World, the most widely-read computer business magazine with a readership of over 4.8 million.
At the head of the list is the Google Gang : Sergey Brin and Larry Page. These guys created Google in a little garage in Stanford, and now they are the fathers of the most trafficked search engine. It seems that everthing on the internet is possible, that almost anyone, despite little resource, can achieve big things. For example, who knew that Matt Mullenweg would be the developer of one of the most successful web hosting and blog platform (Wordpress) at the early age of 22?
Everybody has free access to create his own space or even his own business online, but to make it something relevant, reliable and to contribute so significantly on the way we use the Web is not an easy job! Only the best search engines gain the confidence of users and become more and more used. See Wikipedia, forfounder, Jimmy Wales, currently number 5 on the list. This Internet encyclopedia is the favourite for most the researchers on the Net. It is so reliable that it has been quoted in more than 100 U.S. court decisions since 2004.
Everything is happening so fast on the Internet that it is difficult to know who’s going to be on the list in a years time. Any guesses?
